Mr Fothergill's Sweet Corn Incredible F1 Seeds, Sweet flavour, tolerant against rust. Planting in blocks helps pollination, harvest when silks start to turn brown. Eat sweet corn as soon as possible after picking before sugar turns to starch.
Sow indoors a warm kitchen windowsill is all you need for starting these seeds. Sow 1.5cm deep in pots of compost. Keep warm and moist. A temperature of 15-20°C. is ideal. Seedlings appear in 7-21 days. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts) before planting out, when frosts are over. Plant in blocks, allowing 40cm between plants and rows. Disturb roots as little as possible. Or sow outdoors 1.5cm deep, two seeds together at 40cm intervals in a block formation. Sowings will benefit from cloche protection if temperatures drop. Eat sweet corn as soon as possible after picking before sugar turns to starch.
• Shows tolerance to common rust, helpful in wet summers
• Healthy crops of large, long, ‘Sugary-enhanced’ cobs
• High in fibre
Sow time: Mar-May
Flowering/Harvesting time: Aug-Sep
