Mr Fothergill's Spinach Cello F1 Seeds, Robust, reliable and delicious leaves. Spinach is best grown in partial shade, mid summer crops should only be grown as baby leaf.
Sow outdoors thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Sowings from July onwards should only be grown for baby leaves. Allow 30cm between rows. Early and late sowings benefit from frost protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. Keep well watered to prevent plants running to seed. Harvest unthinned as baby leaves. Take a few leaves from each plant allowing them to regrow for more pickings. Or, thin to 10cm apart to produce mature plants. Regular sowings made every two to three weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Pick young leaves regularly to encourage further growth.
• Pick ‘baby’ or mature leaves, for salads or cooked dishes
• Reliable in difficult conditions, downy mildew resistant
• Excellent source of vitamin A, good for vitamin C & folate
Sow time: Feb-Aug
Flowering/Harvesting time: Apr-Nov
