Mr Fothergill's Sage Seeds, Robustly flavoured evergreen herb. Sage is the traditional ingredient in stuffing and complements rich meats very well as it counteracts fattiness.

Sow indoors for surest results, 0.5cm deep, thinly in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 15-20°C.is ideal. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Transplant seedlings individually to further small pots when large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Gradually accustom plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 30cm apart. Or sow outdoors for ease, thinly where they are to crop, 0.5cm deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Thin seedlings to 30cm apart. Harvesting: Pick the leaves as required throughout the year. Sage can also be dried and stores well.

• A hardy evergreen shrub, can be grown in pots
• Very popular, strongly aromatic, long lived plants
• Great for stuffings especially with pork and poultry
