Johnsons Amaranthus - Love Lies Bleeding Seeds, Large plants with impressive, colourful tassels. Great with sunflowers in cut flower displays.
For outdoor sowing When March to May. Where In a prepared seed bed in flowering position. How Sow thinly in rows 45cm apart. Cover lightly with 0.5cm of fine soil. Firm gently and keep moist. Care When large enough thin to 45cm apart. Keep moist and weed free. Flowers June to October. For indoor sowing When March to April. Where In trays of seed compost. How Sow thinly, cover with a fine layer of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover tray with glass, polythene or propagator lid. Keep at approx. 15-20°C. Seedlings appear 14-28 days. Care Remove cover when seedlings appear. When large enough transplant 5cm apart in trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to outside conditions from late May onwards (avoid frosts). Transplant 45cm apart in flowering position. Flowers June to October
Terrific as a spot plant or backdrop in a mixed bed or border. Produces large, pendulous flower heads that remain attractive for much of the summer.
